Central Institute for the Deaf
Privacy Policy
for Students, Families and Donors

Central Institute for the Deaf (CID) in St. Louis, Missouri has a longstanding commitment to protecting our students’, families’ and donors’ privacy. Except as provided below with appropriate permissions, we do not sell, rent, lend, trade or otherwise furnish our students’, families’ or donors’  names, addresses, phone numbers or other personal information to individuals, organizations or entities outside of CID. All personal information we receive from and about CID students, families and donors is strictly confidential. Organizational files are protected and are used for the sole purpose of administering information as it relates to Central Institute for the Deaf.

Publication of PHOTOS AND STORIES
From time to time, CID may publish names, photographs and select story-related information about students, families, alumni and donors in its newsletter, sound effects, in its annual report to the community, on its web site and/or in connection with media requests and news releases to further the cause of helping deaf children learn to listen and talk at CID. This information is published and provided with the permission of the subjects and their families.

Publication of CID DONOR Names
Once a year, Central Institute for the Deaf publishes an annual report to the community listing our donors’ names. Donors who wish not to be named in the annual report are given the opportunity to opt out, or to be listed as “anonymous.” Tribute gifts along with donor names are now published in the CID sound effects.

Except in connection with named CID school and other endowed scholarship funds in which we ask the public to participate — and except in cases of  donor names and/or stories that appear in sound effects with prior permission — we do not list donors’ names on our web site. At this time, we collect no donor information on the CID web site.
