Each CID primary student has an opportunity to meet weekly with our onsite CID school counselor, Pat Wasserman. She has master’s degrees in both counseling and social work and is an experienced therapist as well as a successful profoundly deaf role model. She conducts one-on-one and group sessions with students, covering topics such as social manners, acceptable behavior, advocacy, safety, bullying, life skills, coping with hearing loss and cochlear implant preparation. She also addresses special issues that arise such as a death, illness, or divorce in the family. Pat counsels the children as needed and keeps office hours for parents: 8:30–9:30am and 2–3:30pm by email appointment.
