Early Childhood Teacher

CID – Central Institute for the Deaf is accepting applications for a full-time early childhood teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.  The early childhood teacher is responsible for planning and delivering high-quality group instruction to preschool aged children with hearing loss learning to listen and talk. The early childhood teacher creates developmentally appropriate learning experiences that foster growth in social-emotional skills, motor development, self-help, play skills, and pre-academic readiness. The early childhood teacher leads whole-group and small-group instruction, including morning circle, centers, structured play, and group activities, while maintaining a nurturing, engaging and well-organized classroom environment.

The early childhood teacher collaborates with teachers of the deaf, speech-language pathologists (SLPs), occupational therapists (OTs), behavior specialists, and other professionals to support both group instruction and individual student needs. The early childhood teacher uses data-driven practices to monitor student growth across developmental domains.

Prior experience working with children with hearing loss is not required.  We are looking for a candidate who can bring a different expertise and perspective to enhance our early childhood program.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education
  • Eligible for Missouri teaching certificate in early childhood education
  • Special education certification or experience preferred
  • Strong foundation in early childhood development
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to design developmentally appropriate instruction
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills

Development Database Coordinator

CID – Central Institute for the Deaf is accepting applications for a development database coordinator to maintain our Raiser’s Edge donor database, analyze donor data and support our development office. This position supports a variety of development activities, which include annual fundraising initiatives, grants and events. Top consideration will be given to candidates with a bachelor’s degree or higher and previous experience working in a nonprofit development office. Some specific skills we are looking for are:

  • Advanced skills with a Raiser’s Edge or similar database
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficiency with data analysis concepts
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of programs, particularly Excel, Power BI and Teams
  • Strong people and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task with accuracy

Teacher of the Deaf

CID – Central Institute for the Deaf is accepting applications for a teacher of the deaf to provide listening and spoken language instruction along with pre-academic/academic instruction to children who are deaf and hard of hearing between the ages of 3 and 12. This position is for the 2026–2027 school year.

Qualified candidates are knowledgeable about child development and listening and spoken language instruction. A qualified candidate is motivating, organized, flexible and an excellent communicator willing to work collaboratively with other staff members. A master’s degree in education of the deaf is required. Candidates must obtain a valid Missouri teaching certificate. CED (Council for Education of the Deaf) certification is preferred.

We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience. The starting salary for first-year teachers is $52,200. Patient Accounts Specialist

CID – Central Institute for the Deaf seeks a full-time, year-round patient accounts specialist responsible for managing patient accounts, ensuring accurate billing, processing insurance claims and providing excellent customer service to patients. The patient account specialist works collaboratively with CID’s audiologists, finance and school office staff to ensure effective and efficient clinic operations. This role encompasses scheduling, revenue cycle management, medical records releases and requests, inventory and supplies management, report processing and updating financial information in the medical practice management and financial reporting systems.

Candidates should be organized, detail-oriented and able to communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues, patients/families and third-party payors.

Candidates should also have experience with medical billing/coding and should be proficient in using computers, equipment and other technology including but not limited to:

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • 3D Print lab software and equipment
  • HearForm or other clinical practice management software
  • Remote communication platforms
  • Network printers, copiers, faxes
  • Phone system

A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate’s degree or certification in medical billing/coding or medical office management is preferred.

4th-Year Audiology Extern

The CID – Central Institute for the Deaf Martha E. Jones Pediatric Audiology Center provides a full range of pediatric re/habilitative audiologic services. These include behavioral hearing evaluations, device evaluations (digital hearing aids, cochlear implants and FM systems) and programming, parent counseling and educational outreach. CID audiologists work closely with educators in the CID family center and school addressing the speech, language and hearing needs of children from birth to age 18.

Each year, we seek a fourth-year audiology extern to participate in all aspects of the audiology clinic. These include making and fitting earmolds, selecting and verifying hearing aids, programming and verifying cochlear implants for children, fitting FM systems and planning appropriate auditory training goals. Through observation and guided supervision, the extern helps counsel families about hearing loss, device options and the cochlear implantation process. Stipend available.
