Preparing for General Education

A graduate teaches a CID classOur goal is for each child to have a positive and successful transition from CID to their next educational setting. Our educators, therapists, family support specialist, administrators and professional development team work continually with students, families and professionals to prepare them for their new school.

While students build their listening, language and self-advocacy skills to help them successfully navigate new academic and social environments, parents and caregivers learn about aspects of educational law, IEP development and educational placement options as they become empowered over time to advocate for their child. Our dedicated family support specialist provides a variety of year-round group opportunities to address parent/caregiver social-emotional needs. CID’s team remains available after graduation to help families ensure their children continue to learn and thrive. Our professional development staff and audiology team empower professionals at the next educational setting to best support the student’s continued progress. We communicate with the students’ receiving schools and provide in-services and training for the staff that is individualized to explain the student’s specific audiological and educational needs.
