Audiology Office Assistant

CID — Central Institute for the Deaf seeks a full-time, year-round audiology office to serve as a customer service representative to patients and provide administrative support to the Audiology Department to ensure effective and efficient clinic operations. The office assistant works collaboratively with CID’s audiologists, finance, and school office staff. The role encompasses medical authorizations, scheduling and billing, medical records and inventory management.    The position may assist with CID’s on-site earmold printing process and may assist the audiologists with basic hearing device troubleshooting and minor repairs.

Candidates should ideally have experience working in a medical office and should be proficient in using computers, equipment and other technology including but not limited to:

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • 3D Print lab software and equipment
  • HearForm or other clinical practice management software
  • Remote communication platforms
  • Network printers, copiers, faxes
  • Phone system

Candidates should be organized, detail-oriented and able to communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues, patients/families and third-party payors.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate’s degree or certification in  medical billing or medical office management is preferred. Previous customer service experience in a healthcare environment including insurance billing is preferred.

CID provides a competitive hourly rate commensurate with education and experience and a benefits package that includes medical, dental, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability benefits, vision, 403(b) retirement benefits, flexible spending plans for out-of-pocket medical and dependent care, tuition reimbursement and paid holidays, vacation and sick time.  The starting hourly rate for this position is $20 per hour.

4th-Year Audiology Extern

The CID – Central Institute for the Deaf pediatric audiology program provides a full range of pediatric re/habilitative audiologic services. These include behavioral hearing evaluations, device evaluations (digital hearing aids, cochlear implants and FM systems) and programming, parent counseling and educational outreach. CID audiologists work closely with educators in the CID family center and school addressing the speech, language and hearing needs of children from birth to age 18.

Each year, we seek a fourth-year audiology extern to participate in all aspects of the audiology clinic. These include making and fitting earmolds, selecting and verifying hearing aids, programming and verifying cochlear implants for children, fitting FM systems and planning appropriate auditory training goals. Through observation and guided supervision, the extern helps counsel families about hearing loss, device options and the cochlear implantation process. Stipend available.
