The CID primary school has three main goals: (1) continue the development of listening, speech and language skills, (2) teach content that aligns with general education programs and (3) teach self-advocacy and social skills to help prepare students for transition into their home schools. We use a series of functional assessments for collecting data and monitoring progress in each of the expected areas of delay for a child with hearing loss learning to listen and talk:
- Syntax/Grammar: CID Teacher Assessment of Grammatical Structures (TAGS)
- Foundational Listening: CID Speech Perception Instructional Curriculum and Evaluation 2nd. ed. (SPICE)
- Real-World Listening: CID SPICE for Life 2 Auditory Learning Curriculum
- Phonics/Reading: SPIRE, Fountas and Pinnell Leveled Literacy Instruction (LLI)
- Reading: Cottage Acquisition Scales for Listening, Language and Speech (CASLLS)
- Science: Missouri Learning Standards Generation Genius
- Social Studies: Nystrom Young Citizens
